We are working with a social impact startup that is aiming to diversify tech by providing job opportunities to regions with some of the highest youth employment in the world in Palestine, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). They are building an all-in-one platform that connects these applicants with top tier tech companies, volunteers to help coach to pass interviews and a community to advise on career development.
You will be joining a team of four and responsible for dealing with topics surrounding the technical architecture, scalability, personal development, and management of the team and product. At present, they have a backend in a low-code platform and are using JavaScript technologies (Next.js, React.js) in the frontend. You will have a lot of freedom in choosing technologies, mentoring, and building the team.
The ideal candidate has a track record of working in a mix of startups and companies at scale. Ideally, you will have managed a team of 2-4 individuals before and been responsible for coaching and developing juniors, to mid-levels and so on. A background or affinity in JavaScript is preferable but they are also open to a generalist or a mixed stack as long as you can demonstrate that you are keeping up to date with modern technologies as you will be responsible for making and facilitating a lot of the technical architecture. This is not a purely people role, and you will be expected to be hands-on as and when required. This is a remote company, so experience working in a remote-first environment is also desirable:
Don’t match the requirements? We still want to hear from you! If you can’t find the perfect role for you online, get in touch with a Xena Consultant. Whatever you’re looking for, allow us to match you with a company that truly cares.
The entire mission of this company is to combat high unemployment rates in the regions they serve. Within these regions women are predominantly underserved, and unemployed, despite being the majority to graduate from Computer Science degrees. You will be a part of that mission. Despite this, you will be working within a women-led team that promotes flexible working, growth and development.
This is a fully remote position that is open to candidates across the globe. The current team is spread between San Francisco, Berlin and Palestine.
