Our backstory: founded in 2020 by Alex and Joe Walsh, Xena has rapidly established itself as a trailblazer in the recruitment industry. With over 15 years of experience in recruitment, Alex and Joe knew the industry needed a significant change. They observed firsthand the glaring gender disparity in tech and recognised the necessity for a dedicated effort to bridge this gap.
This insight led to the creation of Xena, a recruitment business exclusively focused on promoting gender diversity.
With offices strategically located in Berlin, Amsterdam, London, and New York, Xena is at the heart of the world’s major tech hubs, fostering inclusivity in the sector.
Fun Fact: Does the name ring any bells? Xena’s name is inspired by “Xena: Warrior Princess,” a television show from the late 90s. The show starred Lucy Lawless as Xena, a fierce and fearless female warrior who fought for justice and equality.
Much like the character, Xena the company is committed to challenging the status quo and championing diversity in the tech industry. Our ethos is rooted in the belief that true change requires unwavering dedication and full-time effort, much like the relentless spirit of Xena the Warrior Princess.
Our Mission

But how do we make the industry more inclusive? We are a recruitment business that reinvests back into STEM to ensure long-term diversity and longevitiy in the tech industry. Since our beginning, we have proudly reinvested over €170,000 into STEM initiatives, partnering with grassroots initiatives such as the ReDI School of Integration and VHTO.
We have successfully placed over 100 talented individuals into roles where they can thrive and lead.
And this is just the beginning—we have ambitious plans to expand our impact even further.
